- The book “Ekaterini Mariolopoulou – Kanagini. Decades of contribution to society and culture” written by author D. Panagiotopoulos was published by the Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences and ESTIA Publications.Ekaterini (Nina) Mariolopoulou had a long and interesting life journey, which she went through with ethos and modesty. She was generally a person of moderation, who would nonetheless put her foot down with remarkable strength, wherever it was necessary and wherever she considered it her obligation to assume her own share of responsibility. In the obituary written for her by Demetrios Z. Sofianos, professor of History at the Ionian University, a loyal friend and partner for more than forty years, he reports the following: “Nina, a real lady, was a simple person throughout her entire life∙ modest, graceful, brilliant, approachable, genial, sagacious, above all spontaneous and honest, outspoken, with a great sense of humor”.Throughout her interesting, yet sometimes adventurous course of life, she was fortunate to have an also eminent and remarkable companion by her side, Elias Mariolopoulos. Nina Kanagini – Mariolopoulou passed away on August 24, 2004, at a ripe old age of 95 years, almost thirteen years after the “setting” of her favorite “Sun”, as she affectionately addressed her husband, who died in 1991 at the age of 91.
The Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences, which owes its establishment and existence to her unwavering will and generous offer, dedicates the publication of this collective volume, which includes aspects of the history and life journey of Catherine (Nina) Mariolopoulou, nẻe Kanagini, from Pirgos of Tinos, to the memory of this remarkable woman, whose life and presence left its mark on her birthplace and the lives of the people who knew her.

- The book “Aristotle’s Meteorologica – Meteorology then and now”, written by authors Anastasios Tsonis and Christos Zerefos, was published in Oxford by the MKF and Archaeopress Publishing LTD.
The book deals with the comparison between the knowledge of Meteorological and Climatic Phenomena according to Aristotle and according to contemporary scientific perceptions.

- Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the awards “WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award” for the year of 2020, were not awarded as provided, but sent after being signed by the Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization, Professor Petteri Taalas and the Chairman of the MKF, Professor Christos Zerefos.
The awards were sent to the following winners:- To Shingirai Nangombe for the study “Record-breaking climate extremes in Africa under stabilized 1.5°C and 2°C global warming scenarios” and
- To Francesco S.R. Pausata for the study “Greening of the Sahara suppressed ENSO activity during the mid-Holocene”.
