{"id":1140,"date":"2018-07-22T21:59:26","date_gmt":"2018-07-22T19:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=1140"},"modified":"2020-10-21T12:56:02","modified_gmt":"2020-10-21T10:56:02","slug":"2008-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=1140&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>In January 2008, there was the\u00a0announcement of the World Meteorological\u00a0Organization (WMO) Prize, \u00abWMO Professor\u00a0Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award 2008\u201d for\u00a0the best studies of the previous two years\u00a0worldwide, carried out by young scientists\u00a0on topics pertaining to the atmosphere.\u00a0After the process of reviewing the submitted\u00a0studies, the International Review Committee\u00a0awarded the following scientists: Sabine\u00a0Wust for the study \u00abNon- linear resonant\u00a0wave-wave interaction (triad): Case studies\u00a0based on rocket data and first application\u00a0to satellite data\u201d with M. Bittner and\u00a0Noureddine Semane for the study \u00abAn\u00a0observed and analysed stratospheric ozone\u00a0intrusion over the high Canadian Arctic UTLS\u00a0region during the summer of 2003\u201d with V.-H. Peuch, L. EL Amraoui, H. Bencherif, S.\u00a0Massart, D. Cariolle, J. &#8211; L. Attie and R. Abida.\u00a0The Prizes were presented to the winners by\u00a0the representative of the Secretary-General\u00a0of the World Meteorological Organization\u00a0Dr. Elena Manaenkova, Director of Cabinet\u00a0and External Relations Department and\u00a0the Minister of the Interior Mr. Prokopis\u00a0Pavlopoulos, during the Conference titled\u00a0\u201cClimate Extremes During Recent Millennia\u00a0and their Impact on Mediterranean\u00a0Societies\u201d which was held in Athens in the\u00a0\u201cKostis Palamas\u201d Hall, University of Athens\u00a0(UOA) on September 13, 2008.<\/li>\n<li>In January 2008 the Foundation announced\u00a0Awards in collaboration with the Ministry\u00a0of National Education and Religious Affairs\u00a0among Lyceums of the fire afflicted regions\u00a0in the summer of 2007 for the best projects\u00a0on the subject: \u201cAfter the catastrophic fires,\u00a0forest recovery and protection are the only\u00a0hope for a better future\u201d. On the CIRCLE Board of\u00a0Directors also served the member of MKF\u00a0Board, Mr. Vasileios Tritakis.
