{"id":1157,"date":"2018-07-22T22:45:23","date_gmt":"2018-07-22T20:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=1157"},"modified":"2018-07-22T22:45:23","modified_gmt":"2018-07-22T20:45:23","slug":"2010-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=1157&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The Directorate-General for Research of the\u00a0European Union, in collaboration with the\u00a0Greek GEO Office and with the support of\u00a0Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the\u00a0Environmental Sciences organized the \u201c4th\u00a0GEO European Projects Workshop\u201d which\u00a0took place between April 29 and 30, 2010,\u00a0in Athens. The purpose of this meeting was\u00a0the development of co-operations among\u00a0bodies relevant to Earth observation and\u00a0research programs financed by the European\u00a0Community in order to confirm European\u00a0participation in GEOSS. An additional\u00a0objective was to crystallize the content of the\u00a0European participation in GEO VII Plenary\u00a0and in the Ministerial Summit that was held\u00a0in Beijing in November 2010. Apart from\u00a0representatives of research programs, the\u00a0meeting was also attended by members of\u00a0the High Level Group of the European Union\u00a0(HLWG), representatives of the GEO General\u00a0Secretariat and representatives from Greek\u00a0Research Institutes and Universities. The\u00a0Workshop was welcomed by GSRT Professor\u00a0A. Mitsos, Mrs Manoela Soares Director of\u00a0the Environment Division of the Directorate-General for Research of the EU, and Professor\u00a0C. The\u00a0colloquium, which was a great success, was\u00a0addressed by professors and scientists from\u00a0the field of architecture and environmental\u00a0planning. The colloquium was held on the\u00a0occasion of the World Environment Day and\u00a0the speakers were Professor of Architecture,\u00a0AUTH, A.Kotsiopoulos, the Athens University\u00a0Professor Matthew Santamouris, the Director\u00a0of \u039a\u0399\u0391 &#8211; \u00abARES\u00bb WP Mr. Nicos Fintikakis,\u00a0the Assistant Professor of the Greek Open\u00a0University (EAP) Mr. Stelios Zerefos, Anis\u00a0Abou-Zaki (Director PHA, B Arch Dip, Msc\u00a0EDE, MOEA (LBN) LEED AP, Jonathan\u00a0Smales (Executive Chairman, Beyond\u00a0Green Group) and Tim Stonor (RIBA MRTPI\u00a0FRSA Managing, Director Space Syntax\u00a0London). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benaki.gr\/index.php?option=com_events&amp;view=event&amp;id=2460&amp;lang=el\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.benaki.gr\/index.php?option=com_events&amp;view=event&amp;id=2460&amp;lang=el<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Foundation, in collaboration with the\u00a0Workshop Dionisis Sotovikis of Droog Design\u00a0and the Benaki Museum co-organized the\u00a0Exhibition \u201cGreek green greet by droog\u201d\u00a0which was officially opened on June 4, 2010\u00a0at the Benaki Museum, in the building at\u00a0138 Piraeus Street and it lasted until July\u00a025, 2010. The \u201cGeo-Meetings Festival\u201d\u00a0under the auspices of the Municipality of\u00a0Athens and the Greek UNESCO Committee,\u00a0for a second consecutive year, from November\u00a029 to December 8, 2010, focused on the\u00a0relationships between Man and our Planet,\u00a0through various activities such as: lectures\u00a0by eminent scientists, a \u201ctemporary garden\u201d\u00a0with treasures of Greek biodiversity, meetings\u00a0with researchers and authors, film screenings,\u00a0children\u2019s experiential workshops and a\u00a0photography exhibition by Gilles Mermet\u00a0titled \u00abThe Greatness of Nature. Plants and\u00a0Insects\u00bb. The official opening ceremony of\u00a0the Festival took place on Wednesday 1st\u00a0December 2010, at the Athens Concert Hall\u00a0in an event that paid tribute to the memory\u00a0of Jacques-Yves Cousteau. The events of\u00a0the Geo-Meetings Festival took place in\u00a0Klauthmonos Square, at Goulandri Natural\u00a0History Museum \u2013 Gaea Centre and at the\u00a0bookshop of Patakis Publications.
