{"id":700,"date":"2011-05-20T01:38:59","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T23:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=700"},"modified":"2018-07-22T23:20:14","modified_gmt":"2018-07-22T21:20:14","slug":"eurosolar-uia-ares-manifesto","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/?page_id=700&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"EUROSOLAR \/UIA-ARES Manifesto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rome, 20 May 2011 by Francesca Sartogo with\u00a0the collaboration of Angelica Fortuzzi<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-701 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/conf-ares-manifesto-img1-270x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/conf-ares-manifesto-img1-270x300.jpg 270w, https:\/\/mariolopoulosfoundation.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/conf-ares-manifesto-img1.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>\u0395UROSOLAR \/UIA-ARES Manifesto<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Rome, May 19-20, 2011<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>The architecture of well tempered environment<\/em><br \/>\n<em>A harmony of integrated instruments<\/em><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Prologue<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>We are living in a turning moment in our History, which urgently requires an effective action\u00a0to contain the disastrous effects of Climate Change and the threats of \u201cPeak Oil\u201d and \u201cnatural\u00a0resource depletion\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This Manifesto recognizes the significance of the European Charter for Solar Energy in\u00a0Architecture and Urban Planning (1996), and intends to reaffirm its content in accordance with\u00a0the European Directive on nearly zero energy buildings, the latest European and international\u00a0documents on strategies for Sustainable Cities and Environment.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly believe that Architecture and Urban Planning have a leading role for the formal\u00a0and functional quality of our future, social and natural environment, and to ensure survivable\u00a0levels of comfort and well-being, it is unavoidable and urgently necessary that the design is\u00a0the result of a harmony of well-tempered environment.<\/p>\n<p>It will be necessary to reformulate the approach by which we act on built environment and\u00a0nature, and as professionals, planners, architects and engineers, assume the <strong>responsibility of\u00a0our role<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To reach these aims it will be necessary a reformulation of the <strong>architectural language<\/strong> and\u00a0roles in time, in space, in mobility and in technology and in terms of <strong>\u201cstructure, grammar and\u00a0syntax\u201d<\/strong>, reaffirming the relevance of Vitruvius <strong>\u201cfirmitas, utilitas, venustas\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore we believe in the need of acting in the fields of:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Energy<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Environment<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Architecture<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Ccity<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Education<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The professions<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Governance<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>10 key actions<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Designing buildings from the\u00a0requirements of thermal, light and\u00a0sound comfort, providing architectural\u00a0solutions that guarantee buildings free\u00a0of non-renewable energy, provided by\u00a0technological efficient systems and\u00a0powered by renewable energies.<\/li>\n<li>Designing cities based on the integration\u00a0of functions &#8211; home, work, services &#8211;\u00a0to encourage pedestrian and bicycle\u00a0mobility, reducing pollution and private\u00a0car use.<\/li>\n<li>Pursue the development of distributed\u00a0renewable energy, network and storage\u00a0systems in the design of buildings,\u00a0neighbourhoods and cities.<\/li>\n<li>Reformulate the rules and approaches,\u00a0increasingly complex, of the\u00a0Architectural and Urban Design to\u00a0include the necessary multidisciplinary\u00a0skills useful for the organic development\u00a0of the project; restore the links between\u00a0aesthetics, technology and function\u00a0towards an environmental approach.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the Integrated Design, both\u00a0through the changing role of the\u00a0architect \u201cto integrate skills\u201d, both\u00a0through the design process that comes\u00a0from the organizing and enhancement\u00a0of an harmony of multidisciplinary\u00a0contributions for climate, environmental\u00a0and cultural equilibrium.<\/li>\n<li>Pursue the integration between natural\u00a0and human ecosystems &#8211;
